Campgrounds in Maryland

The State of Maryland has many great opportunities for camping and exploring.  We have visited a few and have been able to find some interesting places.  We have spent some time on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland, staying in Maryland.  One of our favorites is Pocomoke River State Park Campground in Maryland. It is about 30 minutes from Ocean City, Maryland, 30 minutes from Assateague Island, Maryland and 30 minutes from Chincoteague, Virginia.  You have lots of options of places to explore!

Travelling through the area of Assateague, MD and Chincoteague, VA, there is a good chance you will see wild ponies.  This picture shows wild ponies at the Assateague Campground. They just come into the campground and graze!  It wouldn't be unusual to have one of these beautiful creatures in your campsite! They are used to people, but they are still wild animals and it is not recommended to pet or go near them. They are beautiful to watch!

Another family fun day would be a visit to the Salisbury Zoo in Salisbury, Maryland.  There are lots of activities and interesting animals to see.  As a self-proclaimed nature girl, I had a great time visiting this zoo. It is free, but they accept donations to support their animals and cause!

Another fun place to camp is Cedarville State Forest.  We spent a few days there.  Nice campsites.  This picture is our usual setup when we go camping.  Always an adventure!
